The engineer may also need to regulate air flow that controls how much fuel will be burned for a given segment of the plant. A senior plant engineer may supervise the maintenance activities. It is the senior supervisor’s duty to tell which equipments require immediate attention.
Equipment Operation
Power station engineering jobs not only include maintaining the equipments. Other than acting as maintenance personnel, the engineers may need to operate some of the power plant’s equipments. The engineers operate the fuel feel burners, pressure regulation devices, supply fans and flow pumps from a central control room. Working from a central platform allows him to monitor signs of trouble as well as run the given section of the power plant.
Analyze Operational Systems
It is a primary duty of the engineer to analyze steam, water and condensation quality so that he can determine if the equipments are optimally used in the plant. He needs to record the data and then use the data in periodic reports that are prepared on the steam plant’s functionality. The data may also be used for recommending changes to the existing systems so that performance can be improved.
